10 October | Mission day

Supportive relationships at work are the point.

Mentoring is not therapy, and we are careful about the line. What it does do is reduce the isolation of not knowing, which is a large part of what makes work feel heavy.

Why this date works for mentoring.

Belonging, pressure and confidence are what people actually bring to a session.

Confidence, measured

Mentees rate their confidence before and after, and the lift is the clearest number we hold.

Belonging at work

Talking to someone further along who felt exactly the same, and stayed.

Pressure and pace

Workload, first management roles, burnout warning signs and asking for help.

A clear boundary

Mentors signpost rather than counsel, and we set out where a session stops.

How it runs

From sign-off to a number you can report.

  1. 01

Six weeks out, pick the number

Agree how many 30-minute sessions the day is aiming for, and who they are for.

  2. 02

    Four weeks out, open sign-ups

One link goes out internally. Colleagues say yes in a minute and pick nothing else.

  3. 03

    Two weeks out, we match

Mentees are matched on subject and time zone, and sessions land straight into diaries.

  4. 04

    On the day, it runs

Sessions happen, the counter climbs, and your people see the total move in real time.

  5. 05

    The week after, you report

A wrap-up with sessions, subjects, countries, hours given and trees planted.

Campaign ideas

What partners actually do on the day.

  • Sessions offered to anyone in a first management role

  • A mission run alongside your existing wellbeing programme

  • Mentors briefed on signposting before the day

  • Confidence scores published in the wrap-up

Questions

The things people ask first.

Is this counselling?

No. Mentoring is career support. Mentors are briefed to signpost to proper support where a conversation needs it.

Is it confidential?

Yes, apart from safeguarding concerns, which follow our published policy.

What do you measure?

Confidence before and after, sessions delivered and what mentees say afterwards.

Make World Mental Health Day count this year.

A 15-minute call is enough to agree the date, the target and who the sessions go to.
