12 August | Mission day

The next generation needs more than advice. They need access.

August is when a lot of young people find out what happens next, and it rarely goes the way the plan said. A session gives them somebody who has been through it, in the week it matters.

Why this date works for mentoring.

Built for early-career and next-generation mentoring, right as results and intakes land.

Timed to results

Plans change in August. A mentor in that week is worth ten in October.

Access, not encouragement

Real answers about routes, pay, entry requirements and what the job is like.

Anyone can mentor

A colleague two years into their career is the perfect mentor for an 18-year-old.

Free to every mentee

No cost, no catch, no upsell at the end of the call.

How it runs

From sign-off to a number you can report.

  1. 01

Six weeks out, pick the number

Agree how many 30-minute sessions the day is aiming for, and who they are for.

  2. 02

    Four weeks out, open sign-ups

One link goes out internally. Colleagues say yes in a minute and pick nothing else.

  3. 03

    Two weeks out, we match

Mentees are matched on subject and time zone, and sessions land straight into diaries.

  4. 04

    On the day, it runs

Sessions happen, the counter climbs, and your people see the total move in real time.

  5. 05

    The week after, you report

A wrap-up with sessions, subjects, countries, hours given and trees planted.

Campaign ideas

What partners actually do on the day.

  • A results-week surge with sessions available at short notice

  • Early-career colleagues mentoring for the first time

  • A mission named after the number of young people you want to reach

  • A follow-up route into your apprenticeship or graduate scheme

Questions

The things people ask first.

What age are the mentees?

Mostly 16 and over. Under-18s need guardian consent and the safeguarding checks we set out publicly.

Are mentors checked?

Yes. Mentors working with under-18s hold a current enhanced DBS or the local equivalent.

Can we run it at short notice?

A mission can be live within 30 days of sign-off.

Make International Youth Day count this year.

A 15-minute call is enough to agree the date, the target and who the sessions go to.
